The questions I ask before I design anything

Before any design work begins, my focus is on understanding. Design is not about decoration. It is about direction. I begin by asking questions about goals, audience, values, and context. What is working. What feels challenging. What the business wants to be known for now and where it hopes to grow.

I also pay attention to what feels unclear. Areas of hesitation or inconsistency often reveal where clarity is needed most. These moments are just as important as the answers themselves.

As patterns begin to emerge, priorities become clearer. This foundation guides every decision that follows, from messaging to visual expression.

Taking the time to ask the right questions creates alignment. It ensures that design choices are intentional, grounded, and supportive of real business needs rather than surface level preferences.

This clarity is what allows the final work to feel cohesive, confident, and lasting.
